STAIN is a series of square aluminum sheets. Each is painted with a single colored spray paint applied through the perforated surface of a barrier found on the street in New York: a plastic mesh, a fence, a grate, a fire escape, et cetera. The steel sheet bears the trace of where it has been, and the site where it was made bears the trace of its making.
